Reindeer Food

Tap the jars to add oats, sprinkles and a pinch of moonlight.

Animal-safe sparkle: real glitter is bad for birds and animals, so we use sugar sprinkles.

How to make magic reindeer food

On Christmas Eve, lots of children sprinkle reindeer food on the grass outside, so that Rudolph and the other reindeer can find their house in the dark and have a snack before they fly on. In this activity you mix your own magic reindeer food and sprinkle it on a snowy lawn.

First tap the jars to add the ingredients to the bowl: crunchy oats, bright sugar sprinkles for sparkle, and a pinch of glowing moonlight so the reindeer can see it from the sky. Then stir with your finger, round and round, until the stir meter is full and the food is magic. Press Go outside and swipe across the snow to scatter it. The more you sprinkle, the more twinkles you will see.

When the lawn is ready, press Christmas morning. The sun comes up, most of the food has gone, there are nibbled patches in the snow, a trail of hoof prints, and a reindeer leaping into the sky. Your bowl and your lawn are saved on this device, so if you come back on Christmas Day the morning will be waiting.

Making real reindeer food? Mix a cup of porridge oats with coloured sugar sprinkles. Never use glitter, because it does not wash away and it is harmful to birds and animals who might eat it.
