Make a paper snowflake, the way the elves do
Real paper snowflakes are made by folding a piece of paper into a thin slice, snipping little shapes out of it, and then opening it up. Every snip is copied all the way round, so one small cut turns into six or twelve. Snowflake Maker lets you do the same thing on a phone, tablet or computer, with no scissors and no mess.
Your paper is already folded. Choose Draw and use your finger or the mouse to draw a shape over the paper: when you let go, that piece is snipped out and falls away. Or pick a ready-made shape (a triangle, circle, diamond, heart or star), choose a size, and tap the paper to snip it. Cuts across the dotted fold lines make the prettiest patterns, and cuts at the top edge change the snowflake’s points. Made a mistake? Press Undo. The little preview in the corner shows what your snowflake will look like.
Try the thin fold for a classic snowflake with mirror patterns, or the wide fold for a swirly one. When you are ready, press Open it! and watch the paper unfold. Press Let it fall in the village and your snowflake will drift down over Santa’s village for a minute. It is kept only on this device. You can also press Share to save a picture of it or send it to family with a grown-up’s help.
